All the trolls going 'OMG your an idiot if you do this' can rot. This wouldn't harm anybody at all to add this.

what? the x key is in the furthest place away from the center of the screen.
how can you click it while looking for targets? you need to rotate you chars point of view sometimes then... or maybe you should just c-space.
i mean... really... i didnt think it was this big an issue

F11 --> Interface --> Drag the menu in the upper right corner
You now no longer have to fear to accidentally hit the "x"-button.

If they'd bother to allow reconnects in those type of situations I'd be all for it.

If they add a check box in the options on whether we want the popup then I'm fine. I don't see the need, but it's not hard to do.

I don't think it is needed, but I don't use the X button to close the game, so it wouldn't bother me if they added it. However, I must ask....
Several people have noted there are other ways to close the game or leave, and several have noted that there are other ways to target. I won't tell you how to play, as each has their own style, but if you use the mouse to target, and have lag issues that would cause you to click the X in the corner instead of Kanaxai, how often does this happen? (run on sentence, I'll reask) How often has this happened? If it is a consistent problem, then you really should look into new methods of targeting, a new mouse, an upgrade for your computer, etc. instead of asking Anet to fix a problem that is yours alone (mostly).

Example of one time I've done this (actually I think the only time I've done this). I had the F9 inventory bar open on the right side of the screen (needed to use an item) clicked on the close for that at the upper right hand corner, but doubleclicked through to the x. It is not like there is ANY targetting improvement that could have provented that from happening.
This is a dumb argument. It's like saying "well there is no reason people should ever get into car accidents, so there is no reason to waste time developing an air bag."
People who do this, do it by accident. It's not their "fault." It is a design problem that allows them to do this at all in the first place.

I like the fact that those minimize, maximize and close buttons are very fast compared to other games. You can window GW in a matter of seconds, much faster than other games, and you can also close it without having to go through a menu first unlike other games.
Anything that changes this would feel detrimental to how functional it is right now. So I would only like it if they were to also add a check box to turn on or off the option. (and have it set to 'off' by default)

People die in car accidents, nothing is lost when GW is closed.
Its more like "I stubbed my toe on the chair leg, ALL CHAIR LEGS SHOULD HAVE GIANT CUSHY PADDING TO PREVENT THIS."

It's place is likely to have the mouse over if something hits the mouse. Like an accidental movement of the hand.
It happened to me just once, but it was quite annoying.
There should be a checkbox in the General Options tag to confirm exiting the program.

How is it a design problem? The x button is always up there for pretty much everything you do on a computer. If you moved your bags over the x button that is an accident waiting to happen and Anet is not to blame for it.
It would be like you stopping your car in the middle of the intersection to check your pockets for gum. Chance that you could get hit, yeah very likely. But you put yourself there.
There is no reason to waste time adding this.

I have clicked it accidentally a few times myself. A little notice would stop that.
Also add options boxes, for "do not show again", and put it in F11, etc.
Travelling to GH or CTRL+F4 is normally quicker anyway to 'get away'.

Most of us don't keep our cursor hovering around the X button.

I still haven't really heard a legitimate argument besides "haha you suck, don't be a noob."
1) Time wasted developing? They already have the code with the F12 escape. Plus, this is a GW suggestion forum. Pretty much everything can be countered with "well that would waste the devs time." If you don't like reading GW suggestions on a GW suggestion forum... what the heck are you doing here?
2) Wasted time existing the game? So instead of hitting x to leave, you have to hit x and then the y button. Oh boy, all of 3 seconds of your life wasted. As opposed to several hours of time wasted if somebody accidentally leaves in the middle of a dungeon run.

lol. I've actually done that by accident before...I play GW windowed and had a browsing window up - accidentally clicked X on GW and not the brower because they were right next to each other. XD

Would be nice to have some sort of message. Heck the npc's in Factions give you like 2-3 times of having to click to get into whatever town...why not exiting the game too? XD

If you're careless enough to hit that X button that's so far away from where your mouse should ever be pointing accidentally, then the window should close. Think of it as a way to teach you not to point your mouse over there, since under your suggestion you'd end up having to click "No" on a "Do you really want to exit?" message while you're in the middle of a fight (since one of the ways you say this happens is when you're clicking targets).
Your situation, while tragic, is not so much so that the prevention of it justifies annoying the entire population of GW every time they want to close the window.
